The meaning of plastics in the automotive manufacture constantly grows thereby: Plastics are suitable particularly well, in order to keep the weight of all components in the vehicle as small as possible. Lightweight construction will be also in the future from high relevance, since on the one hand more and more accessories and technical equipment are inserted and on the other hand the total weight shall be kept or reduced if possible for the delimitation of the fuel consumption. Beyond that plastics are characterised also by its temperature and corrosion resistance, so that they are used in the interior as well as for the development of the exterior and engine compartment.
