Measuring system for the simultaneous acquisition of multiple air mass flows
The newly developed measuring system Multi.HFM is a useful universal device where it is necessary to measure multiple air flows simultaneously. Its setup permits its use in both a mobile unit as well as a test stand.
The device allows the measurement of air mass distribution at all air vents of an air conditioning system. It was developed by M.TEC Engineering/Herzogenrath (near Aachen) and since has found its way not only to their testing facility but is also used by several important manufacturers of car air condition manufacturers. The system permits an exact examination of an air conditioning system either on a test stand or already installed in a vehicle.
Additionally it is possible to use it for the following applications (e.g.):
- Car climatisation => air mass distribution at all vents
- engine technology => Air intake per cylinder
- Process technology => Process control
- civil engineering => Check of air exchange systems
- household appliances => Check of air flow rates
The measuring system consists of a central standard 19” unit, sensors and cables. To achieve perfect accessibility all connectors are situated on the front panel of the central unit. The system comes with hot film mass flow sensors which are suitable for a mass flow of up to 800 kg/hr. The sensors are connected to the central unit by especially manufactured cables. The unit is equipped with a USB port to which a personal computer or laptop has to be connected in order to store and process the acquired data. The data are (a.o.) compatible to DIADEM by National Instruments.
The system is calibrated ready to use. The measuring error is less than 3%.
