Filling simulation

M.TEC - the official consulting partner of the Moldflow Corporation

(rheological and thermal dimensioning of injection moulding dies)

The quality demands on plastic parts as well as economic aspects of the production require together with the component development an optimum dimensioning of the injection moulding die.
With the help of the simulation of the injection moulding process, our calculation engineers react to problems to be expected in the later production at a very early stage of the component development. Besides important findings for the component design these process simulation calculations are also used for the ascertainment of statements for the development of a suitable tool concept and of criteria for the selection of the required injection moulding machine.

On top of the conventional compact injection moulding our engineers also simulate thermoplastic special methods like sandwich injection moulding and gas/water injection method as well as the injection moulding of elastomer and duroplastic polymers.

We can perform all calculations on midplane and surface models. These are especially suited for thin-walled parts with a large area, like for example dashboards, waste containers and covering caps.

Beyond that we newly offer with the help of our modern equipment 3-dimensional filling simulations. This new technology is prior suitable for thick-walled parts and those ones which are subject to extreme fluctuations of the wall thickness. These are for example electro-technical parts like switchers and connectors. In addition to the 3-dimensional filling the calculation in 3D offers the following advantages:
  • Calculation of jetting
  • 3-dimensional calculation of air trapping, weld lines and voids
  • 3-dimensional calculation of the fibre orientation
  • calculation of shrinkage and warpage for 2C-parts
  • Calculation of insert moulding of insert parts and microchips, while taking into account the heat transfer between the melt and the inserted part
